Again we take the cork out of the bottle and get on with our tasting.
The tasting
Colour…Gold with a subtle hint of lime.
Jim’s tasting
Nose…A more gentle sooty/smokey/peaty aroma than some of the Islay Malts, a wee bit of citrus fruit peeking out.
Taste…Loads of peaty smoke and sweet fruit, a winner in my eyes.
Finish…Medium finish sweet and rounded, smoke from the campfire.
Score…3 corks
Nose…Lovely gentle exotic type smoke with a hint of pear drops and bubblegum.
Taste…Great peat smoke with a salty/sweet fruitiness, one to savour at the end of the day.
Finish…Medium length, sweet smoke, vanilla and liquorice.
Score…3.5 corks
Nicola’s tasting
Nose…Sweet peat, exotic fruits, pineapple and mango.
Taste…Still sweet peat, not too smokey, delicious fruit taste.
Finish…Medium, hanging on to the fruits, lovely.
Score…3.5 corks
That went down a treat, for those who are unsure about the heavy peated/smokey malts especially from Islay, then this is a great introduction, the peat and the sweet fruit in this dram are great and gentle together.
