A masterful sherried single malt, this mysterious Speyside was drawn from a first-fill oloroso cask and bottled by Signatory to celebrate Whisky Show 2024. We couldn’t possibly tell you where exactly this rich, luxurious dram hails from. However, we can say that the distillery’s name begins with the letter ‘M’, it stands just west of Craigellachie, and its whiskies show a remarkable affinity for sherry. If that leaves any doubts in your mind, then they’ll likely be gone when you get this in your glass. On the nose it shows an immediately recognisable fruit and nut character with notes of orange zest, hot chocolate, walnut whips and sticky dried fruits.

Old Orkney 2003 | 20 Year Old | Decadent Drinks for Whisky Show 2024

Island Single Malt Scotch Whisky | Decadent Drinks | 70cl / 55.8%

Bottled to celebrate Whisky Show 2024, this is a superb example of Orcadian single malt, spirit-forward and generously textured with notes of heather honey, sea air and lightly smouldering peat. This is a real whisky drinker’s whisky, elemental and intensely flavoursome with a genuine sense of place and character. We can’t reveal where this came from originally, but a quick check of the records to find out which of Orkney’s two surviving whisky distilleries was operating in 2003 should settle the matter if you’re curious.
