Crabbie – 22 Year Old Orkney Single Malt

Coming hot on the heels of Crabbie’s Chain Pier Single Malt is the new Single Cask 22 Year Old Orkney Single Malt.

Only 253 bottles of this dram will be released.

This peated Orkney Malt was matured for 21 Years on bourbon cask. Then for its final six months it was transferred to the Palo Cortado sherry cask. Stored at crabbie’s warehouse in Leith.

Master Blender Dr Kirstie McCallum, who took charge of the Crabbie’s whisky portfolio earlier this year said:

‘This beautiful, single cask Orkney single malt is a very special whisky, an unusual coming together of the wonderfully smoky flavours of the original bourbon-matured dram with so much depth and richness from one of the world’s rarest and most coveted sherries. And with only a few hundred bottles going on sale, I’m sure it will delight drinkers looking for something special to enjoy.’

‘It gives me enormous pride to be continuing the founder’s legacy: of producing unique, unexpected and great quality whiskies for everyone to enjoy.’

Let’s have a taste.

ColourPure gold nugget

Nose…Loads of dried fruit, bowl of ripe berries, some white pepper, vanilla toffee only the slightest hint of smoke.

Taste…The bowl of berries has just had some double cream poured over, very dark chocolate, sorry to say but I have to search for the smoke, slight oak notes.

Finish…Medium to long finish, with dried fruit in charge, again light smoke only.

Priced in our shop at £158.00, for a 22 year old single cask this is a great price.
