This is our second tasting of the evening. (Glenlivet Whisky – Archive) The three Whisky Boys together with our guest taster Lee are getting ready to open our second bottle of the evening. (Tuesday 15th June 2010).

Cragganmore’s name was taken from the nearby hill “Craggan Mor”.

As you can see Cragganmore is part of a very special band of Whiskies.  So lets start tasting.

Colour…Golden orange

Jim’s Tastingcragganmore-whisky

Nose…Sweet fruity spice and away in the back some sherry, add water and some complex aromas com through.
Taste..Soft and mellow with dry herbs and perfume and a tough of smoke, a lot happening.
Finish…A long and pleasant dram

Score…2.5 corks

Dougie’s Tasting

Nose…Sweet pine resin and vanilla.
Taste…Typical Speyside sweet malt and oak spices, quite moreish!
Finish…Medium, dry, with a slight fruitiness right at the end.

Score…2.5 corks

Nicola’s Tasting

Nose…Grass and pine but with a very small undertone, sweet and floral.
Taste…Very none descript, a little smokey/spicy, dry but quite enjoyable.
Finish…Medium dry and a little smoke.

Score…2 corks

Lee’s Tasting

Nose…A bit salty and a little sweetness.
Taste…Smooth with a little peat coming in.
Finish…Short finish but smoke gives way to a little sweetness.

Score…2 corks

Overall Score 2.5 corks

This is a pleasant dram and you will be able to find this 12 year old in some of your high street supermarkets, as well as on line and specialist Whisky shops.

We all preferred the earlier dram (Glenlivet Archive) but there was not a lot in it.
