Talisker – A New Expression Tasted

Jim has visited this distillery on a couple of occasions and has always been in awe of the location with the Cullins as a backdrop, stunning absolutely stunning. just like their drams.

Tonight the Whisky Boys are tasting a new unaged dram released in early 2013 from the Isle Of Skye.

Lets open the bottle and taste this dram.

Talisker – Storm, Unaged Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 45.8 Alc/vol 70 cl.


Colour…Highland Goldtalisker-storm

 

Jim’s Tasting

Nose…Light peaty smoke, kid leather gloves, a little sulphur, some sweet honey, a hint of white pepper spice.
Taste…Clean and quite rich, chewable peat and smoke, sooty edge, some sea salt, sweet soft fruits, mixed roasted nuts.
Finish…Long with the peat and smoke sticking in there to the end, quite drying, found a wee touch of sweet tobacco.

Score…4 Corks

 

Nicola’s Tasting

Nose…Peppercorn sauce, brine, hot dog brine, sweet orange syrup.
Taste…Diesel, engine oil, new car engine, overalls, sweet bbq sauce, cinema stalls.
Finish…Medium to long with the car workshop on the top.

Score…3 Corks

Overall score…3.5 Corks

As you all know Jim just loves his smoky/peaty drams and this one is right up his street, but Nicola thought it was just a tad too much for her palate.

This dram is now available from your local Whisky shop and on-line, the price for a 70 cl bottle is, £39.95 and is worth every penny.
