Glasgow, Cocktails & Nikka Whisky
My own wee fair city (Glasgow), are playing host to the well regarded Whisky Cocktail finals – Nikka’s Perfect Serve. The event will be held at the 5 star City Centre location, The Blythswood Hotel, where the 5 finalists will compete against each other to impress the judges. Oh yes and there will be role play… and yes of course Nikka’s fine whiskies will be used in abundance… and if that wasn’t enough Scotland’s superstar Whisky expert/actor/writer will be on the judging panel, (Charlie McLean), looks set to be an enjoyable event.
See below a few more details:
The winners of the Nikka Perfect serve heats across Europe will be competing for the final prize on Monday 5th November at the Blythswood Hotel in Glasgow from 11am to 4pm.
The contestants will be asked to compete on the following:
PART 1
They will each be given the same choice of ingredients and 15 minutes to try different combinations, dosages, garnishes. This surprise cocktail will then be presented to the judges while describing their thoughts behind it. Scored on flavour and presentation of the cocktail.
PART 2
The OMAKASE service – All three drinks must be created “on the fly” to suit the judge’s specific role. They will have to serve three drinks in 15 minutes, and the reason they provide for offering a certain cocktail or whisky will be as important as the cocktail itself. Of course, the quality of service will also be an important factor.
