The Famous Grouse Launches Two New Breeds
The Whisky Boys were pleased to receive from Roseanne Niven an Account Executive with The BIG Partnership in Edinburgh an invite to the media launch evening for The Snow Grouse and the Naked Grouse, the Whisky Boys gladly accepted.
This event was held at Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh on the 18th May.
It is late afternoon and Jim and Nicola are catching the train from Falkirk to Edinburgh to arrive on time for this media launch.
This is the first time that either Jim or Nicola have visited Our Dynamic Earth and they were very impressed by this canvas covered exhibition which is ideal for visitors, tourists, school outings and as a corporate venue and even for your extra special wedding day.
We were greeted by some of the staff from The BIG Partnership and offered a cocktail or two, Jim and Nicola both chose the Naked Grouse Old Fashioned, and what a great cocktail this is. To accompany our cocktail we were offered a great selection of canapés. After approx. half an hour of chatting with our hosts including the Famous Grouse Grand Ambassador Richard Prendivill we were requested to go to small cinema for a video presentation and short lecture on The Grouse Family and especially the two new breeds.
After this presentation we were then taken to the Polar Extreme area which has it’s own iceberg, the ideal place to launch The Snow Grouse a blended grain Whisky matured in oak casks and to have a tutored tasting.
This tasting was conducted by Richard Prendivill and we were all given a seriously chilled glass containing a large shot of The Snow Grouse which had been kept in the freezer for approx. 20 hours, so as you can imagine it was ever so cold.
Some of the tasting comments from the guests were, sweet, elegant and rich vanilla.
When we finished the Snow Grouse tasting we headed to the rain forest area which is where we were introduced to the tasting of the Naked Grouse, a de-lux blended Scotch Whisky and containing two of Scotland’s most iconic drams, namely Highland Park and The Macallan. This blend is then matured in Spanish sweet sherry casks.
Both Jim and Nicola loved the Naked Grouse, we found it to be ultra smooth full of sherry and vanilla, a medium finish with a touch of chocolate, and no doubt from the Highland Park a little bit of peat appears.
From chatting to some of the other guests, the Naked Grouse was a big hit.
On leaving the event all the guests were given a “goodie bag” which contained a bottle of each of the two new breeds, so The Whisky Boys have added both to our list of up and coming tastings.
We must finish by thanking Richard for his tutored tastings and to Roseanne Niven of the BIG Partnership for the invite to this fabulous event.
You can purchase these new members of the Famous Grouse family in your specialist Whisky shops and on-line, they are also available in your Tesco and Asda supermarkets, so there can be no excuse for not getting yourself a bottle to taste and enjoy.
