The Best of 2010 – Non Scotch Whiskies
As promised in The Best of 2010 – Blended Whiskies blog, we are now going to list our favourite top five Non-Scotch Whiskies for 2010.
We hope that you have in the past year took some of our advice and sampled some of our favourites below, if so please let us know what you thoughts and comments are.
If 2011 is as good as this year for Non-Scotch Whiskies then the Whisky Boys will be more than happy.
Now, this is our favourite five. As with the blends these are in no particular order, so please try to buy and taste all of them.
Yamazaki Single Malt Whisky Aged 18 Years 43% Alc/vol. 70cl. (An award winning Japanese Single Malt Whisky)
Connemara Peated Single Malt Irish Whiskey, 40% Alc/vol. 70cl. (Connemara is Cooley’s most celebrated Whiskey winning numerous Gold Medals)
Penderyn Single Malt Welsh Whisky – Sherrywood Finished, Non chill-filtered 46% Alc/vol. 70cl. Bottled June 08 (Finished in Oloroso sherry casks)
Bushmills 10 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey, 40% Alc/vol. 70cl (Green Label). (Winner of Best Irish Single Malt Whiskey at the 2007 World Whiskies Awards)
Parkers 27 Year Old Heritage Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 48% Alc/vol, 75cl (Parker’s Heritage Whiskies is a set of limited edition Whiskies to honour the 6th generation distiller Mr. Parker Beam)
It makes the Whisky Boy’s mouths water just writing about these fantastic Whiskies, and we look forward to 2011 and diving into the world that is not only Scotch.
All of the above bottles are available online at Master of Malt and at your specialist Whisky shops and some are also available at your local supermarket.
Over the Christmas/New Year period try and buy and taste at least one of these drams, it may just open your eyes to what is out there.
