The Whisky Boys – Getting Some Normality Back

Both Nicola and I have recently felt that the Whisky world is slowly coming out of its slumber. More bars are opening, distillery tours in many distilleries have restarted, great news for all Whisky lovers.

As many of you know Nicola and I are Brand Ambassadors for The Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) and it is great to see all the Society venues opening again to serve the best Whiskies in the world together with top notch food. I have recently done an External Members tasting in the delightful Stirling Gin Distillery.

We have also been asked to man the SMWS stand at the National Whisky Festival in Aberdeen on the 18th of September. We will be holding two masterclasses on the day and I believe there will be some outstanding drams. If you manage to go to this festival, come up to the SMWS stand and say hello.

Nicola and I can now sit down and plan the rest of this year’s Distillery visits. High on the list will be Glen Moray, Aberlour, Glen Scotia, Glenturret, Tullibardine, Strathisla and Lindores Abbey to mention just a few.

I am very lucky where I stay just a couple of miles from Falkirk and have watched the rise of the new distillery, The Falkirk Distillery in Polmont, Falkirk.

The other great news is the rebirth of Rosebank Distillery. I pass this distillery once or twice a week and have been in awe of the construction that is going on. Here below is an artist impression of the finished Distillery.

We are both overjoyed at the reawakening of the Whisky World, here’s hoping that the transition to normality is swift.
