Caskshare – The New Range

I was delighted to receive an invite from John Robertson to taste the new range of bottling’s in their offices in Edinburgh. Their office also has an impressive bar and seating area,

It was great to meet Steph and some of her colleagues together with some other guests who I chatted with whilst sipping some fine drams.

I tasted a few drams including :-

Agitator Distillery, Sweden. A four year old peated Whisky. Matured in a chestnut cask.

Agitator Distillery, Sweden. A four year old grain matured in white port wine cask.

Dailuaine Distillery, Speyside Distillery. A 14 year old matured in ex-bourbon cask.

Bruichladdich Distillery, Islay distillery. An eleven year old matured for as in first fill American oak.

Great flavoured Whiskies, my favourite by a long way was the 11 year old Bruichladdich.

This very fine dram had a quite complex maturation by taking three casks, two Bourbon and one Oloroso cask matured Whiskies. After two years they were vatted together and then filled into Andean, Amarone (French oak) and Oloroso for a further 18 months. Then re-vatted again and split again, this bottling came from a first-fill American barrel.

Let’s have a wee taste.

Caskshare bottling.

Bruichladdich Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky – 11 Year Old, 46% Alc/vol, 70 cl.

Colour…Rich amber.

Nose…Rich and clean nose, floral fruitiness, vanilla, baked pears.

Taste…The richness gives loads of sweet and floral delights, a little citrus burst, some very mild spices, and puff of white pepper, crushed mixed nuts, and a touch of sea spray.

Finish…Medium to long finish with the floral and sweet notes lingering longest.

A very fine dram indeed. Check out www.caskshare.com for the full range of Whiskies together with their story. A great read.
