Antiquary 15 Years Old | A Great Gift for Fathers Day
Antiquary is a Tomatin Distilleries Blended Scotch Whisky. The Antiquary range includes:-
A 21 Year Old – Port Cask
A 30 Year Old – Sherry Cask
Also the 15 Year Old which is matured in Claret Casks. Which I will be tasting very soon.
These fine blends have a high malt content from Highland and Speyside distilleries and Lowland grains.
The maturation is carried out in a selection of the finest casks from France, Portugal and Spain. As you can see from the bottle they have a new and distinctive bottle. Quite a change from the diamonesque style from days gone by.
In 1996 Tomatin Distillery Co. Ltd. bought the brand from DCL as a way to get into the premium blended Scotch Whisky market and is sold worldwide today.

Let’s open the bottle and have a sip or two.
Antiquary 15 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky – 40% Alc/vol 70 cl.
Colour…Deep and rich gold with a red hue.
Nose…A very inviting nose, pure orange oil, perfumed leather, ripe strawberries dipped in powdered sugar, some gentle spice notes, the smoke from a Calabash pipe as smoked by Sherlock Holmes.
Taste…Chewy and rich fruit, a little oily with hints of candied orange, and vanilla sweetness, flavours rolling through the juicy fruits of apricots, tangerines and toffee apples, with only a teardrop of water it opens up with rhubarb and custard, the palate is now lip-smacking good – a tantalising mix of sweet treats and gentle spice, Bubbling pot of bramble and damson jam, quite a complex dram.
Finish…Medium to long finish, the lingering notes of sweet fruit and mild spices with a touch of wood shavings.
Well, well, well that was a great dram on a cold and wet Saturday afternoon.
From the bottle design to the fantastic colour is only surpassed by the taste. The Whisky Boys will keep this bottle secret and only bring it out for selected family and friends. It is that good. Priced at just under £40.00 it is a great buy.
Check out the Tomatin website for all the details about Antiquary and the great single malts from this grand distillery.
I have to give a big THANKS to Mikaela McPartlin for allowing me to have a bottle to taste this fine dram.
