The Lakes Distillery – The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No. 4

This expression was released late last month and is a sherry led Single Malt.

This distillery is in a beautiful setting in Bassenthwaite, The Lake District, Cumbria. The Lakes Distillery should be high on everyone’s list for a must visit.

This is a non-chill filtered, natural colour expression. This new Whisky matured in Oloroso, Pedro Xeminiz and red wine casks, American, French and Spanish oak.

Let’s open the bottle and have a taste.

The Lakes – The Whiskymaker’s Reserve No.4, Single Malt Whisky, 52% Alc/vol 70cl

Colour…Burnished copper

Nose…Rich, honey, sultanas, a little zesty burst, mixed crushed nuts, and a symphony of spices, rich warming sherry notes.
Taste…Warming, mixed dried fruits, the symphony of spices is very much there, for my palate it just needed a couple of tear drops of water, it then opened up a complex array of flavours.
Finish…Quite a long finish, my palate was now experiencing a mixed soft fruit punch, delightful.

An easy drinking sherried Whisky and has a price of just £63.95, I think they have got the price just about right.

This will be a great dram to bring out at The Whisky Boys next tasting and let our guests taste it blind, looking forward to their thoughts.

Remember, The Lakes Distillery also distils gin and vodka, check out their shop online.
