Highland Park 18 Year Old – Viking Pride
Here at Whisky Boys HQ I am about to taste a new expression from Highland Park.
Nicola and I have over the years have enjoyed many new expreesions from this grand Orcadian Distillery. Highland Park is still high on our Distillery must visit wish list.
Let’s now have a wee taste.
Nose… Delicious floral heather peat, oak is always on hand, rich honey.
Taste… Honey and peat are well married, creamy texture, a little spice, now I get the citrus fruitiness, soft toffee, rock salt and sea breezes.
Finish… Medium to long, sweet, a slight dryness.
This fine dram, the Travel Edition is predominantly matured in European oak sherry seasoned casks. It is non-chill filtered and the ABV is increased from 43% in the standard 18 Year Old to 46% for the Travel Edition. It was first released at the end of August in Europe and will also be released in Asia at the end of September.
Well we have another wee triumph from Orkney, a grand dram and I can see this featuring in The Whisky Boys cabinet.
