In 2008, The BenRiach Distillery Company Ltd ,purchased the GlenDronach Distillery, located in Forgue by Huntly in Aberdeenshire. GlenDronach is world famous for producing richly sherried single malt Whisky and has a longstanding history dating back to 1826.

Today both the BenRiach and GlenDronach Distilleries are once again producing single malt Whiskies as independent distilleries and a bright and exciting future lies ahead for both. This dram gets it’s name for the windswept and wild moorland close to the BenRiach Distillery, it is very well named, read on.

Lets get down to a wee tasting.

Colour…Chablis gold.

Jim’s tasting

Nose…Big burst of peat smoke, seams to be quite a young dram, barley, light tobacco, floral notes all around, oranges and lemons.
Taste…Quite sweet delightful peat, vanilla hiding in the back, some oak woodiness.
Finish…Long and sweet clean with a slight, the vanilla is more prominent, suits Jim to a T.

Score…4 Corks

This is a fabulous dram and for less than £30.00 it’s a steal.

This peaty dram has now joined the Whisky Boys peat cabinet along with all the usual suspects including many Islay drams. Like the Whisky Boys you should without a shadow of a doubt purchase a bottle or two as this is a secret waiting to be found by all.

Available at many specialist Whisky shops and certainly on-line or direct from the Distillery.
