Inchdairnie – Sample Room Range

It has been almost a year since I attended the launch of Inchdairnie’s first release, The Ryelaw, which I reviewed in May last year.

They have now released a trilogy of Blended Scotch Whisky.

Balgone – A  single distillery expression, Smoke and Rye, bottled at 58.2% Alc/vol

Pitkevy – A single distillery expression, Elegant Smoke, bottled at 58.5% Alc/vol

Leven – A single distillery expression, Rich Rye, bottled at 58.2% Alc/vol

Each sample bottle has a wax seal and are limited editions, direct from Inchdairnie’s sample room. There will only be 390 bottles of each expression. All three are bottled at cask strength and non-chill filtered.

Inchdairnie’s Distilling Director, Scott Sneddon says:

“I’ve been with Inchdairnie since the site was a green field, assisting with the build and installation, but we are only now realising its full potential when it comes to extracting flavour. My team and I have experimented with unique materials, advanced distilling methods, and carefully selected casks to push the boundaries of Scotch Whisky conventions and this new Single Distillery range is just a sneak preview”

On this tasting, I will be reviewing the Leven. Blended Scotch Whisky, into Cask Dec 2017, drawn Feb 2024.

Inchdairnie – Sample Room Range, Leven – Cask Type Maturation Amontillado and New Oak, 58.2% Alc/vol 50cl.

Colour…Prehistoric amber.

Nose…Very elegant on the nose, vanilla, in comes the Amontillado notes, nuttiness, aromatic herbs, and oak.

Taste…More vanilla, a rich sweetness, Thorntons Special Toffee, light spices, sweet, mouth coating, smooth and very rounded.

Finish…medium to long finish, vanilla custard, shortbread, a bit drying and the spices still linger.

This is quite a dream. Do not overdo the water, enjoy all the flavours that are contained in this sample bottle. All these bottles are available via the Whisky Shop at £59.00 per 50cl sample bottle.
