Bushmills 10 Year Old
Bushmills is the world’s oldest licensed Whiskey distillery. Distilling Whiskey for more than 400 years and still going strong today. Bushmills are all triple distilled, matured, and bottled on-site, it’s a 400-year-old tradition.
I had the pleasure of visiting this delightful distillery a good few years ago on one of my many trips to Ireland. The distillery staff were very informative and provided us with not only interesting information but also gave us an opportunity to taste some of their fine drams.
The Bushmills Distillery is a stone’s throw from the iconic Giants Causeway, a beautiful part of Ireland, and a short drive from the Carrick a Rede rope bridge. This rope bridge is a must-visit, but the crossing will have your heart in your mouth. One thing to remember if you do cross to the small island you will still have to cross it again on the return – scary.
This fine dram I am about to taste has been triple distilled and matured in a selection of bourbon and sherry casks.
Let’s go now for a sip.
Bushmills 10 Year Old – Single Malt Irish Whiskey, 40% Alc/vol, 70cl
Colour…Butter gold.
Nose…Tropical fruit punch, apple and pear crumble, vanilla iced cake slice.
Taste…Elegant runny honey, more fruit, just passed an open door of a florist, a few mild spices are incoming and orchard fruit yoghurt.
Finish…Long and lingering, fruit and vanilla are certainly in charge.
A delightful and easy drinking dram. If you search around you will be able to find a bottle for around £39.95, a great price for this fruity Irish dram.
