The 10th Glasgow Whisky Festival

On Saturday 9th November at Hampden Park (Scotland’s National Stadium) the 10th Glasgow Whisky Festival took place. Both sessions were a complete sell-out with a total of approx. 2000 Whisky lovers in attendance.

I was once again part of a team to man The Scotch Malt Whisky Societies stand. With me was Michelle, Dean, Kami and Alex.

The stand was constantly very busy with many tasting the large and varied selection that we had on hand. Society members also had a choice of specially selected drams to taste.

It was great to meet many members who had joined the Society at previous festivals and have kept their membership ever since.

We had record sales of new memberships and this was mainly due to the up and coming opening of the new Glasgow venue in Bath Street. The society also had taken box 14 and 15 to host small comedy club type sessions. Also in the boxes were schematics and a large mural of the new Glasgow venue which really helped with getting new memberships.

The festival was a huge success with many of The Whisky Boys favourites having stands. (Glen Moray, Fettercairn, Dalmore, Glengoyne, Bruichladdich, Kilchoman, Springbank and Glenfarclas to mention just a handful of exhibitors).

Now the Directors of The Glasgow Whisky Festival have to start all over again to prepare for the 11th Festival for 2020.
