The Clydeside Distillery Visit and Tour

On Friday, 27th September 2019, I made my first visit to this new Glasgow Distillery and got one or two surprises.

This Distillery sits at the western end of the old Queens Dock occupying the old Pumphouse that operated the Queens Dock Bridge and was opened in 2017.

From the outside it is more than impressive, large glass windows gives you a wonderful view of both stills. On entering the Distillery I was amazed by the selection of Whiskies and Whisky paraphernalia that was on sale, Whiskies from £30.00 going up to the thousands. On chatting to the staff the intention is to become one of the best specialist Whisky shops in Scotland. Next to the shop is the Pumphouse Cafe which presents full lunches and lite bites using only locally sourced and seasonal ingredients.

I took the £15.00 tour which lasted just over the hour. Our guide for the tour was Roddy who was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Roddy took us through the full production areas of the Distillery and the Dockside story starting with a grand wee video introducing the distillery and how it came to be. This very in depth tour finished with a three dram tasting. The three drams were all 10 year old Single Malts from the Highlands, Lowlands sand Islay.

So, for all Whisky lovers visiting Glasgow this Distillery and tour should be very high on you list of sights to see.

Although this was my first visit I am sure that it will not be my last
