Eden Mill Single Malt Scotch Whisky – The First Bottling
Just received here at Whisky Boys HQ a wee sample of Eden Mill’s first Single Malt.
In 2012, Eden Mill resurrected a fine brewing and spirits tradition with their own take on Scottish craft brewing and distilling. Eden Mill were Scotland’s first single site brewery and distillery – they also benefit from the best of local water sources,
This single malt is a special marriage of spirit matured in American and French Virgin Oak quarter casks and an ex Pedro Ximenez sherry hogshead since 2014.
The bespoke bottles were specially designed in Italy and blown in Croatia. The oak boxes were handcrafted and engraved in Scotland.
Each of the 300 boxes and bottles are individually numbered.
The price of this very Limited Release is £500.00.
Now let’s have a wee taste.
Eden Mill First Bottling – Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 3 Years Old. 47% Alc/vol, 70 cl
Colour…Golden shred marmalade
Nose… Fresh and quite floral, summery perfumed sweet fruity aroma, vanilla and honey now move in.
Taste… The substantial palate is very appetising, with flavours of sweet sherry, sticky toffee pudding, a hint of chocolate covered raisins, adding water gave you a Christmassy feel.
Finish… Short to medium finish, sweetness lingers longest, the spices are now bouncing around the palate.
Can’t believe this is only three years old, I cannot wait to try other single malts from Eden Mill in the coming years that will be a lot older.
This first bottling is quite a triumph, so, well done to all at Eden Mill.
