Lidl – Queen Margot, Blended Scotch Whisky

This dram from the Lidl is their award winning blend, being the WWA Category Winner 2016.

This blend is the entry level of a large range of Whiskies that include Glen Alba 34 Year Old sherry cask Whisky and Ben Bracken 22 Year Old Islay Single Malt. One of the best things about Lidl’s range is that none of them are priced over £49.99 and this blend is priced at only £10.99.

Lidl’s most recent success is their Glen Alba 22 year Old Sherry Cask Finish Blended Whisky which won the title “Worlds Best Limited Edition Blended Whisky” at The World Whisky Awards. This dram does not injure your wallet in any way as it is only priced atLidl Queen Margot £29.99.

Let’s open the bottle and have a wee taste.

Queen Margot – Blended Scotch Whisky, 40% Alc/vol 70 cl

Colour…Light bright amber

Nose…Fruit leads the way. Thorntons Special toffee, loads of vanilla, light oak.
Taste…The fruit is now been drizzled with a little honey, more penny caramel toffee’s, hints of the barley, the oak is a bit more evident.
Finish…Medium length finish, fruit and toffee lingers.

Not a bad dram, ideal for some special Whisky cocktails. This blend at £10.99 is a very good buy, but the range of blends between £10.00 and £15.00 is quite large and it is up against some stiff opposition, but the Whisky Boys recommend that you pop out to your local Lidl and try this one or venture into the range of blends and single malts the stock.
