Dramboree 2014
It takes all sorts to make a good party, Dramboree 2014 was no exception. A 60 strong collection of whisky drinkers congregated on the banks of Loch Lomond to enjoy whisky master classes, workshops, a distillery visit, barbecue, swimming in the loch, a few raves (Helen & Tim) and many many Whisky discussions.
In only its second year this festival aimed at hardcore drinkers Whisky geeks lovers did live up to expectations after the success of Dramboree 2013 in Aberfeldy.
Just in case you don’t know too much about this event, the main focus of this festival is the Whisky table, everyone brings a bottle or two to the party (the more unusual the better), the selection, old and new, was outstanding with several of the bottles not lasting the first night. In between visits to the table we are treated to some educational and fun workshops, which this year included: Stephen Marshall showcasing the new expressions ready to be released from Craigellachie, Royal Brackla and Aberfeldy, Annabel Meikle giving all our senses a workout at the SMWS sensory tasting and Angus MacRaild dusting off NINE exceptional blends and malts from another time.
It has been just two days since the party ended and I find myself flashing back thinking back to my highlights of the weekend with a broad smile, obviously there could be a few I am sketchy on but I think you’ll get the jist;
The awesome Dramboree 2014 Whisky table
The LOONYS who dared to DOOK
the refreshing morning bus trip to Glengoyne Distillery
& the very necessary hair of the dog that followed
Annabel Meikle’s Sensational Sensory Tasting with SMWS drams
