The Woodside Hotel, Doune – A Whisky Boy Visit
Yesterday (Saturday, 27th July) Jim with his wife Jacqueline decided to go a drive for the afternoon and headed out towards Callander, on our way we popped into the the Deanston Distillery, which is a fine place to stop of for a great tour or a light refreshment in their Bothy. After visiting the Antique centre just outside Doune we got a little peckish and decided to pop into The Woodside Hotel for a little pub lunch.
We have on many occasions passed this hotel but never gone in. We found it to be very welcoming and quite busy with all enjoying some drinks and lunch.
The big surprise to Jim was the price of their malts :-
Laphroaig
Tobermory
Highland Park
Isle of Jura
Old Pulteney
Deanston ( of course )
Glenlivet
Together with a couple of Irish :-
Bushmills
Jameson
A nice we selection and the best part is, they are poured in a 35 ml measure and all are £3.00 each, now that is a good deal.
So a great wee hotel, lovely pub food, exceptionally courteous and helpful staff, fine ales and a great deal on your wee dram.
So, this Whisky Boy will certainly visit again, soon.
