Ardmore Whisky – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky

Ardmore Whisky – Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Fully Peated) 46% vol

Distilled at Ardmore Distillery, Kennethmont, Aberdeenshire

This single malt is non-chill filtered and matured for a final period in small 19th century style “quarter casks”.

The Boys are on there own tonight (Sunday 9th Nov @ 1930 hours), Nicola is winging her way to Las Vegas , but the Boys have a 1 litre bottle of Ardmore to taste (we may struggle but someone has to do it)

The colour of this malt is not unlike the golden glow of a highland sunset.

On our first pass under our noses we both agreed that if gave off a slight hint of peatiness which we suspect will come in the tasting.  A few passes more under our noses gives off an underlying phenolic dryness.

This is not a conspiracy but Jim and Dougie are of the same mind (again) and find that this dram greatly benefits from a good splash of slightly chilled water.

This addition of water brings out in all its glory the flavours of smoked vanilla and the hint of toasted peat with a sprinkling of sugar followed by deeper, long-lasting and well rounded earthy warmth.

On our visit last week to Whisky Live in Glasgow one of our highlights was the meeting of the bosses and the lads from the Ardmore Distillery. The Whisky Boys would love that every distillery and all aspects of the production and sales of Whisky were as enthusiastic as the Ardmore lads and, of course the Whisky Boys.

It is a great national drink we have, lets ensure that the quality and variety continues to keep our palates titivated and pleasured.
