70cl / 45.3% / Elixir Distillers – A 2001-vintage blended malt whisky from indie bottler Elixir Distillers that has been matured for more than 18 years in a sherry butt, before being bottled in July 2020 as part of its Whisky Trail Soviet series. Aromas of demerara sugar, polished mahogany, fruit cake, plum jam, treacle toffee and apricots fill the nose, complemented by notes of fudge sundae, dried cherries, cinnamon, ginger biscuits, candied orange peel, Black Forest gateau and cocoa powder throughout the palate.
