Ardnamurchan Scottish Restaurant and Bar – Glasgow
On Saturday the 19th of August Jacqueline and I together with my two brothers and their wives had agreed to have a catch-up. The choice of restaurant was down to Jacqueline and I so a table was booked for lunch at the Ardnamurchan. To make the occasion feel even more special prior to lunch we all met up at The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Bath Street, Glasgow for pre-lunch drinks. As per usual the staff at The Society were in top form with service and giving advice on new bottlings.
After a couple of pre-lunch drinks, we headed to the restaurant, which is only a 5-minute walk from The Society.
On arrival, we received a warm welcome and were led to our table. We all ordered wine and beers from a very extensive drinks menu. On the beer list was one of my all-time favourite ales, McEWANS 60/- light ale.
This restaurant has an excellent menu mainly having Scottish fayre. We all ordered our choices, my order was oysters and scallops to start and I could not go by the fish and chips, one of the best I have ever tasted. Jacqueline missed a starter and had the market seafood stew, not a morsel left on her plate. My two brothers and their wives had a varied selection of starters and mains ranging from Cullen Skink, smoked mackerel pate, steaks, haggis, enjoyed by all.
The gantry boasts more than fifty Scotch single malts and blends. Also on their Whisky menu is a selection of Whisky flights which are:-
Best of Scotland Flight
Highland Flight
Lost and Forgotten Flight
Old Particular Flight
Check out the Ardnamurchan website for the full list of Whiskies and details of the four flights.
For those who prefer something other than Whisky, they also have a great range of Scottish and World gins, vodka, rum, cognac, and a selection of liqueurs. They have an impressive list of cocktails and my favourite ‘An Old Fashioned’ is on the list
A little photo of our table.
This was Jacqueline and I’s second visit to Ardnamurchan and it certainly won’t be our last. My brothers and their wives also had a grand afternoon and said we will all be back.
After this fine afternoon lunch, we returned to The Scotch Malt Whisky Society, which always provides a very elegant environment to complete a wonderful day – I cannot recommend it enough. With the contentment of a few delightful drams and an appetite that had fully been satisfied, we all headed our separate ways home very contented people.
