Smoky Scot – Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
On a recent trip to Oban, I called into the Green Welly Stop in Tyndrum. My visits to this well-known shop, restaurant, gift shop, and Whisky shop is mainly to check out their range of Whiskies. I came across this little gem. On a closer look at the bottle tube, it read Distilled at Caol Ila Distillery on Islay. As many of our readers know I am a huge favourite of all Caol Ila expressions. So it was a no-brainer that I had to have a bottle. I even purchased a bottle for my neighbour Dougie, who is also a lover of Caol Ila

Bottled by Aceo Spirits, Dandaleith Craft Bottling Hall, Craigellachie, Speyside. It is non-chill-filtered, unaged and no colouring has been added so we are showing the distinctive pale colour.
Let’s open the bottle and enjoy a wee taste.
Smoky Scot – Caol Ila, Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 46% Alc/vol 70 cl.
Colour…Oaked Chardonnay
Nose…Beach bonfire BBQ, sweet smoke a very typical Caol Ila, aromas of walking down Bowmore High Street in the Winter with all the homes having their peat fire smoke belting out their chimneys.
Taste…Roadworkers tarry leather boots, Para Handys puffer coming into view with its stack pushing out smoke. salty sea spray, drying seaweed on beach pebbles, in the background I found some floral notes, a whiff you get when passing a florist.
Finish…Long and lingering, sweet, salty and smoke, a full on Islay peat Whisky, ery comforting.
Just loved this dram and priced at only £28.00, I thought it was a steal. Where else can you buy a Caol Ila Single Malt for less. On checking out this bottle it is available in many online specialist Whisky sites and also available on Amazon.
I am certain that The Whisky Boys HQ will at all times have a bottle on the shelf.
