Whisky Cabin Tasting with Flora and Marion

A couple of weeks ago we were delighted to have Flora and Marion (joint owners of the Ardshiel Hotel in Campbeltown) come to Whisky Boys HQ and enjoy a wee impromptu Whisky tasting in our Cabin.

Together with Flora and Marion, there was Nicola, Jacqueline, Scott and I all enjoying some good drams and some fabulous chat.

Not only do Flora and Marion own the Ardshiel Hotel but they very successfully run it. This hotel has the largest and most varied selection of Whiskies in entire peninsular. Also on show in the bar and lounge is a great collection of rare bottling’s. The bar is also a partner bar of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society and have several of their bottlings for a wee taste

The hospitality that is provided at this grand hotel is second to none, great food and a very welcoming atmosphere.

The Whisky Boys have stayed at the Ardshiel on many occasions and it is a destination that all Whisky lovers and lovers of fine food should make a b line for. No visit to Campbeltown is complete without a visit to the grand Ardshiel Hotel

The drams in question were :-

Out of these six drams, the newest was the Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition.

Tamnavulin White Wine Cask Edition, 40% Alc/vol

Colour: Deep rich amber

Nose: There was a fresh melon and golden delicious apples, with a hint of vanilla, honey, and desiccated coconut.

Taste: It is still very fresh with more honey, and vanilla ice cream, there is a little heat from a puff of white pepper and some mild spices, Jamaican ginger cake.

Finish: This is sweet and full of flavour with the pepper heat still lingering.

I really enjoyed this new edition from Tamnavulin. Bottled at 40% Alc/vol and with an RRP of £32.00. In some supermarkets, this bottling has been as low as about £22.00 and at this price everyone should have a bottle or three in their cabinets.
