Jura – 14 Year Old American Rye Cask

New to the Jura family is the 14 Year Old American Rye Cask part of the Signature Series. Matured in white oak bourbon together with selected American Rye barrels.

In Jura the Gaelic term for the community is ‘Diurach’, which means tough. Scotland has countless islands, but the Isle of Jura is quite unique. Home to over 6000 red deer with only 212 resident islanders.

To get to Jura you must first get to Islay, a small ferry runs between Port Askaig and Jura. So to get around Jura you must have a car, either your own or one hired in Islay.

On Jura you will find one road, one pub, one shop, one hotel, and of course one distillery.

Let’s now enjoy a wee taste.

Jura 14 Year Old American Rye Cask  Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 40% Alc/vol 70 cl

ColourGlowing amber

Nose…Fruitiness came out first, a waft from a florist’s open door, a citrus burst, vanilla, honey, and crushed mixed nuts.

Taste… A rich feel to the palate, toffee apples, light mixed spices, with a little water came minty oaky honey and toasted oats.

Finish…Long and elegant, toffee and nuts together with the mild spices.

A very fine dram from Jura and priced at around £40.00, this is a decent price for a well rounded aged Single Malt.
