The Glenlivet – A Major New Bottling – Nàdurra Oloroso
Tonight Jim and Nicola are about to taste the first major The Glenlivet bottling in living memory to be matured solely in ex-sherry casks. (Excluding single cask editions) These first-fill ex-Oloroso casks are from Jerez.
It was a way back in October 2009 when the Whisky Boys first tasted The Glenlivet Nàdurra Aged for 16 Years in American Bourbon Casks, so this is going to be a joy to taste.

The Glenlivet – Nàdurra Oloroso, Speyside Single Malt Whisky, 48%
Alc/vol. Non-chill Filtered, 1 Litre
Nose…A big burst of sherry soaked raisins and sultanas, loaded dried fruits, wet sawmill floor. a wee fizz on the nose, a weak floral note.
Taste…A creamy coating to the palate, sweet chewy dried apricots, quite drying, so much happening in our glass, rich dark chocolate, crushed mixed nuts, liquorice laces.
Finish…medium to long finish, dry and sweet , gentle spices dance throughout the palate.
Score…4 Corks
Well this is a little belter of a dram, nothing in it to disappoint, when you get near the bottom of your glass, then you just have to top it with this exceptional dram.
The Glenlivet Nàdurra Oloroso was introduced to Travel Retail Europe in May 2014 via immersive experiences to help travelers gain an understanding of the new Whisky’s unique taste profile. The Glenlivet Nàdurra Oloroso will be unveiled first at Heinemann Frankfurt airport before launching in London Heathrow Terminal 5 as part of the World Duty Free Whisky Festival 2014. Striking The Glenlivet spaces created in both airports will reflect the brand’s contemporary style, enticing Whisky enthusiasts to interact with the new single malt’s tasting notes and explore its rich heritage. In Frankfurt B-East and London Heathrow Terminal 5 travelers will also be invited to enjoy a dram of the new expression.
We can only recommend that if you get a chance to taste this dram, jump at it. If you are traveling and get a chance to buy a bottle, don’t hold back, buy two.
