Malt of the Month – October 2011
It can be no surprise to you all that this months Malt of the Month comes from the Emerald Isle and it is:-
Redbreast Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey
Aged 12 Years, Non Chill Filtered, Cask Strength – 57.7 Alc/vol 70cl
Irish Distillers is a subsidiary of the French Drinks Company Pernod Ricard and it was acquired in 1988 in a friendly takeover
Irish Distillers Group was formed in 1966, when a merger took place between Irish Whiskey Distillers, John Power & Son, John Jameson & Son and the Cork Distillery Company.
Redbreast is distilled at Midleton Distillery and The Whisky Boys have recently tasted the 40% Alc/vol bottling, and that was great, so check out our tasting notes for this one, it is even better.
Other Whiskies in Irish Distillers stable are:
Green Spot, a dram that is only for Michell & Son Wine Merchants
Irish Distillers also produce:-
Cork Dry Gin
October was a great month and we loved tasting some great Irish drams, but Jim and Nicola both agreed that this took first prize for the best Malt of the Month.
P.S. Christmas is coming and this would make one hell of a gift for your nearest and dearest.
