Irish Tasting – Our First of the Month
It is now the beginning of October and The Whisky Boys have lined up some special Irish drams to enjoy in our tasting room and our new cabin.
The dram we are tasting tonight is-
Green Spot – Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, 40% Alc/vol, 70cl
This Irish dram is a blend of seven and eight year old pure pot still Whiskies, a quarter of this dram is finished in some sherry casks and the other three quarters are matured in bourbon casks.

Colour…Warm rose gold
Jim’s tasting
Nose…A bee hive of honey and a touch of throat lozenges.
Taste…A very complex dram, toffee/caramel, a little hint of liquorice, smooth spice, green apples, and a little sherry with a wee bit of sweet smoke, ultra smooth.
Finish…fruit and nut with nice warm feeling that leaves you asking for another.
Score…3.5 Corks
Nicola’s tasting
Nose…Bourbon, strong honey is plentiful.
Taste…Wow, sweet pudding, fabulous after dinner dram, smooth, honey pancake topped with fresh cream.
Finish…Medium such a delightful dram.
Score…4 Corks
What a start to our Irish tasting month, this dram is exceptional, a smooth Whiskey with loads and loads of complex flavours, this is one that the Whisky Boys will have in their cabinet at all times. This is a dram to have after a grand family dinner, it is such a high quality Whiskey that more and more of the worlds lovers of Whisky should try and enjoy.
This dram is not quite readily available outside Ireland but you should be able to buy from your specialist Whisky shop or indeed on-line.
