Big Peat – Small Batch Vatted Islay Malt Scotch Whisky – 70cl, 46% Alc/vol
Yes, Vatted Malt is a Blend of Whiskies, in this case, this is a blend which includes Single Malts from Ardbeg, Bowmore, Caol Ila and Port Ellen Distilleries, all from the wonderful Island of Islay.
This is a non-chill filtered bottling from the house of Douglas Laing & Co Ltd and the brainchild of Fred Laing.
Vatted or Pure Malt is a coming together or marriage of Malt Whiskies, in this wonderful dram they all come from Islay. Therefore, you can expect a powerful and robust dram, with barrellfulls of character.
We suggest you check out the Whisky Boys tasting of Big Peat way back in late 2009, and we are just about to do a re-visit to this BIG dram.
Now you ask, where can we get a bottle of this fine Whisky. In any of the specialist Whisky shops and indeed on line where you might find that the price varies, Jim checked out a couple of sites and the price ranged from £30.95 with Master of Malt to a massive £42.50, so take your time in finding a bottle as you can save yourself quite a wee bit of cash.
