Balblair 1997 Vintage Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Balblair 1997 Vintage Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 43% Alc/vol, 70cl Bottle.
Wednesday 6th of October 2010 and Jim has gone round to Nicola’s where a bottle of Balblair sat on the dining table for tonight’s wee tasting.
Established in 1790, this distillery is one of the oldest working distilleries in Scotland. It lies in Edderton situated on the shores of the Dornoch Firth in the Northern Highlands, surrounded by mountains.

This distillery has a grand website and we would recommend that all give it a wee visit to find out all about Balblair.
Now lets get this bottle open and enjoy a wee Highland Malt.
Nose…Quite fresh and lots of citrus and a wee tad of sherry.
Taste…Sweet vanilla with a light creamy oakiness.
Finish…Medium finish with a little apple spice, quite smooth.
Nose…Oranges and limes, its crisp and complex.
Taste…Rich with barley, creamy vanilla with raisins and sultanas.
Finish…Not too long a finish, smooth with oak and a little spice.
A great wee dram, this is a soft dram and ideal as an aperitif, and if you want to introduce someone to Single Malt Scotch Whisky then this is an ideal starting point, not too heavy like an Islay, but showing all the smoothness and sweetness to ensure a pleasant felling after tasting this fine wee dram.
We have found that this dram is available in some supermarkets, but certainly available online and at all good Whisky shops, and one of the good points is that it is less than £30 for a 70cl bottle.
If you buy a bottle or three let them know that the Whisky Boys recommended it.
