Jura – One and All
Earlier this month (September 2017) Jura launched a new Limited Edition, to celebrate Jura’s community and it’s distillery team who craft Isle of Jura award-winning Whisky.
This single malt has been specially prepared from freshly filled Bourbon barrels and Jura that has been aged in Sherry wood, sparkling Cabernet Franc cask, Cabernet Sauvignon casks and Pinot Noir barriques. Non-chill filtered, natural in colour and with a natural strength.
Graham Logan, distillery manager says: “There’s no better way to mark the distillery team’s dedication and craftsmanship, than by creating a limited edition expression in their honour – chosen by them. In tribute to their passion and tenacity – the shared spirit that each person brings to every last drop – this special whisky is the perfect dram to toast one and all. We can’t wait to hear what people think.”
Jura is a magical island, it has only one road, one pub, one distillery but has over 5000 deer.
I now think it is time to have a wee taste.
Jura – One and All, 20 Year Old, Single Malt Scotch Whisky, 51% Alc/vol 70 cl
Colour…Golden Seville marmalade
Nose…This is quite elegant, layers of peach and apricot, vanilla, a little wood spice.
Taste…Deep and rich, with dried cranberries and walnuts, fragrant, cherry brandy and liquorice, vanilla ice cream with marshmallows, toffee and fudge, honey, very complex, take your time, sip and relax.
Finish…Delightfully long, loads of wood, I can now find a touch tobacco, a delight.
This new expression is rich and aromatic, probably down to the number of different casks used in the maturation.
Priced at £120.00 for a 70cl bottle is not too expensive, I would recommend every one if given the chance to taste this outstanding dram, once tasted you just might add a bottle to your cabinet.
Well done to Graham and his team, you have created a little beauty.
