Westport is the name of a tea-spooned blended malt from a famed highland distillery. Tea-spooning is the practise of blending tiny amounts of single malt from another distillery into a cask of whisky –this stops brokers and bottlers from selling under the distillery’s name. This was matured in a refill hogshead for 17 years, which imparted aromas of stewed apricots, milk chocolate and ground coffee on the nose, followed by notes of cinnamon, cocoa powder and fresh citrus fruit on the palate.
