Extra maturation in Hermitage wine casks has added a rich layer of red fruits to this 2004 Caol Ila. Initially, light peat smoke and cured meats mingle with vanilla and orange blossom, then a creamy palate with pepper and liquorice evolves into notes of spicy oak, blackcurrant and beeswax. The finish is balanced between fruit and smoke.
