I reckon the Glen Marnoch is almost certainly Glendronach. My reasons are that there are 2 distilleries somewhere near to Marnoch Bridge (which is on the River Deveron). One of those produces a peated malt; clearly not that. Glendronach produces a sherry-scented malt – have a sniff of the Glen Marnoch and see. Also, the Glendronach distillery was mothballed for several years from the mid-nineties but has gone back into production recently. They have always been marketing the brand though. It would make sense for them to want to make space in the warehouses for the new production, so I think they will have done a deal with Aldi to shift the old stock. This means that the Glen Marnoch is an excellent bargain as, in my view, the Glendronach is a first-class dram across the various ages.
By-the-way, I emailed Glendronach to ask but, unsurprisingly, they didn’t reply.

HI GUYS went to my aldi store at 8am with the wife and yes whooop whooop got 2 bottles of GLENBRIDGE what a result ………went on the 24th nov toget the 24yr old malt they had on sale and got 4 bottles of that ….so happy me …..and yes just seen 14 bottles on sale on ebay going from £50.00 to £350.00 but iam putting my 2 on the shelf

hi guys what a result…. went to my local ALDI store today24th nov thinking that the store opend at 9am just to find out that they opend at 8am grrrrrrr thinking that all the 6 to 7 bottles per store of GLEN MARNOCH would be gone …….but guess what i seen when i walked into the store 6 bottles in the special aisle get in there …so i picked up 4 bottles of a 24yr speyside single malt for £99.96 ….yes work it out £24.99 per bottle….they came up at 29.99 but ive seen it for 24.99 on the internet and the store said yes so i got them for that price so i was worthonly 2hours sleep after a nightshift to get this bargain ….so keep up the great work guys (and keep on blogging)take care
