This was the family brand back in the day, when the original distillery was in dallas dhu, distillery, forress, Glasgow
I have had a few bottles of this blend and its not a patch on the original, shame it closed down many years ago.
Would love to know where i could buy a bottle of the original.

got it in a 7-11 in Thailand, about 9 quid a bottle, surprisingly good, a smoky talisker influence, lots of sherry cask, at least 10 years of age i would say, interesting, rich and quite full on and sweet. In contrast to most of the cheaper Scotches in Thailand which tend to be light and lemony (which I also like) such as J+b, dewars 12, the loch lomond blends. It easily beasts the more expensive masters reserve for me.

Hi Arthur,

Here's a link to some reference regarding Single Malt and Blended Whiskey -- http://drinks.seriouseats.com/2012/02/what-is-single-malt-scotch-what-is-blended-whisky.html

As for Caol Ila being made from the same place as BenMore, I could be wrong but I'd rather doubt it (I quite like peaty/smokey scotch myself: Ardbeg, Caol Ila, and that Islay flavour in general). I'm from Australia but I visit the Philippines often enough to enjoy the more affordable spirits there, BenMore Four Casks being one of them.

Single malt comes from a single distillery, blended comes from different sources/distilleries. An example is Tomatin, most of their whiskey are used by blenders and mixed with other whiskey from other distilers but they sometimes sell under their own name and that is then a single malt as all the whiskey comes from their distillery. Blending is done to cater to a larger market as straight whiskeys might not appeal to everyone.

Im from the Philippines and i am drinking this right now. im not much of a drinker but i like a shot or two of whisky before i sleep and I must say, im liking benmore's aroma, taste and texture. First, i thought it as an inferior brand but its pretty much drinkable neat. The taste quality is that of whisky's on 600 php mark. Im impressed of its quality at a very affordable price.

This taste ok but it left me feeling like a train wreck after only a few drinks. Why? It's cheap so I guess I should not expect much. There are better selections in Taiwan. Much better off with a pure malt or even a single, less or no head ache/ bad sleep inducing additives.

I thought it was on the inferior side since it's much cheaper than the better known brands.
I'm drinking this right now, and I do enjoy the mild flavour.
If you fancy a bottle or more you can ask me to ship for you as I live in Manila.
