Green Spot – Chateau Montelena from Midleton Distillery

We have here a new Pot Still Whiskey from Midleton Distillery.

An Irish Whiskey with a Californian twist. This new Limited Edition of the Irish Green Spot brand and is the second release in the Wine Geese series, the first being the Chateau Leoville Barton finish in 2015. Green Spot uses both malted and unmalted barley and the spirit is then triple distilled. Aged in sherry and bourbon casks for 7 and 10 years, finally the Whiskey is transferred to French oak casks that once held Zinfandel wine from the Chateau Montelena in the Californian Napa Valley.

Bo Barrett, chief executive officer at Chateau Montelena adds: “It has been a pleasure to work with Billy Leighton, Kevin O’Gorman and the whole production team at Midleton Distillery on this exciting project. We were brought together by a shared heritage and common respect for excellence in craft that has been wholly realised in Green Spot Chateau Montelena. I hope consumers will enjoy the Zinfandel twist to the classic Green Spot single pot still flavour.”

Let’s now have a wee taste.
