Teeling Whiskey – A Vintage Reserve

The Teeling Whiskey Distillery is the first new Distillery in Dublin in more than 125 Years. Dublin was at one time known as the “Golden Triangle” as there was over 37 Distilleries producing some globally recognised premier Whiskey. The last drops distilled in Dublin was in 1976 ‘until now’

Let’s now taste one from the ‘Vintage Reserve Collection’

This Limited Edition is in a run of only 5,000 bottles. Maturation was in Bourbon barrels and then given an extra maturation period in ex-Sauternes wine casks.

In 2016 this dram was awarded ‘Worlds Best Irish Single Malt’ at the World Whiskies Awards.

Vintage Reserve Collection, 24 Year Old Irish Single Malt Whiskey,70 cl, 46% Alc/vol

Nose…Soft fruits, peaches and apricots, morning fruit juice, sweet & creamy, a Peach Melba smoothie.
Taste…Very juicy on the palate, Jaffa cakes and but with a white chocolate topping, very clean and ultra smooth, only needs a teardrop of water ( if at all), some custard pancakes.
Finish…Medium to long, the sweetness and fruit linger the longest, it carries a real depth of character.

Well, well this is a fabulous wee Irish dram, you cant just have one dram it begs you to pour another.

At £268.00 a bottle it has to be a special occasion to break into a bottle, but it is well worth it, a grand expression from all at Teeling.

Next time in Dublin this distillery will be top of our list for a wee visit.
