Ginger Grouse – A Tasting to Celebrate it’s 1st Birthday

This is a Whisky Boys tasting with a difference, it’s not Whisky it is an alcoholic premium ginger beer.

Launched in October 2012 by the makers of The Famous Grouse, Ginger Grouse combines ginger beer with a good splash of the iconic Famous Grouse and has an ABV of 4%.

Ginger Grouse – A Premium Alcoholic Ginger Beer, ABV 4%, 500ml Bottle or on Draft

We tasted this beer as suggested on the bottle, over ice with a good slice of lime.

Colour…Ginger

Nose…Sweet and warming.ginger-grouse

Taste…Sweet and very refreshing, warming ginger spice and The Famous Grouse dram can be found quite easily, the ginger is not to hot.

Finish…Sweet ginger and leaves your palate satisfyingly refreshed.

Score…4 Corks

This is one of the best summer thirst quenchers on the market, reminds me of how a good cider also quenches a thirst.

This bottling is priced at a RRP of £2.20, but the Whisky Boys have seen bottles being sold in some supermarkets for as little as £1.50, which is a great buy.

There is one better way to savour a Ginger Grouse, go up to Crieff and visit The Famous Grouse Experience at Glenturret Distillery, sit at the bar and watch them cut a chunk of ice from a passing iceberg, place it in their branded glass tankard fill the glass with Draft Ginger Grouse, throw in a slice of lime and be prepared to be quenched.

The Whisky Boys now always have a bottle or six chilling in the fridge, for our thirsty guests.

If any of our readers have not had a taste, then what’s keeping you, it superb.
