Talisker – Port Ruighe

Tonight we have a wee gem of a dram from Talisker.

This is Taliskers second no age statement Whisky (the first being Storm) Port Ruighe is pronounced Portree which is the capital town of the Isle of Skye. This Whisky started its maturation in European and American Oak refill casks ad finished in port casks.

Colour…Rose gold

 

Jim’s Tastingtalisker-port-ruighe

Nose…Ocean salty spray, orange and vanilla icing , a little linseed oil, sweet oranges.
Taste…Mouth coating, plumped up wine soaked sultanas, mild hint of heathery peat, orang juice, milk chocolate buttons.
Finish…Medium finish with a nice woodiness a slight touch of sweet peat smoke, drying, quite delightful.

Score…3.5 Corks

Nose…Salty sea soaked rope, bin liners, seashells, damp wood.
Taste…Salt, beach pebbles, seaweed, hotdog brine.
Finish…Medium to long, drying, Cadbury’s hot chocolate.
