Blended Whisky of the Month July 2011

Grant’s Blended Scotch Whisky – Cask Edition No. 1 , Ale Cask Finish

This is a dram that Jim buys regularly as an every day sipping Whisky and has currently a bottle opened sitting in the dinning room, also in Jim’s cabinet is its brother the Sherry Cask Finish, and another thing, Jim’s wife, Jacqueline bought both of these in Asda the other day for only £12.00 per bottle, a great price.

William Grant is Scotland’s third largest producer of Scotch Whisky after Diageo and Pernod Ricard.

Grant’s Ale Cask is the only Scotch Whisky to be finished in barrels that have previously held ale.

Grant’s Master Blender, Brian Kinsman, fills his casks with Edinburgh Ale for 30 days then replaces it with aged Grant’s Whisky. This blend then mellows for up to four months, picking up its unique crème brûlée creaminess and silky malt flavours.

Over the years this dram has won many awards and they include :-

2010 International Wine and Spirit Competition – Gold – Best In Class
2009 International Wine and Spirit Competition – Gold

Some Grant’s distilleries and products include :-   Glenfiddich, Balvenie and these are two of the three malts in Monkey Shoulder.

This Ale Finish dram is readily available in most supermarkets and certainly on line. It is well worth your while purchasing a bottle or two it is an easy sipping every day dram.

Please check out the window below for some of the fine Whiskies in the Grant’s range.
