Blended Whisky of the Month – March 2011

Ballantine’s Finest Blended Scotch Whisky – 40% Alc/vol 70cl.blended-whisky-of-the-month-e28093-march-2011

This grandest of drams is the result of blending at least 50 of the finest single malts (of which a big proportion will be Glenburgie and Miltonduff single malts) marrying them up with at least four grain Whiskies. This fabulous blend has single malts from Highlands, Speyside, Lowlands and of course the Islay, no wonder it is so good.

Ballantine’s can be traced way back to 1847 when a farmers son called George opened a wee grocery shop in our capital, Edinburgh, where he sold Whiskies to those and such as those.

This blend is not quite readily available in your local supermarkets, but you can buy in your specialist Whisky shop or online.

This blend is produced by Chivas Brothers (who are now owned by Pernod Ricard).  So why not go and get yourself a wee bottle, this is one of the world’s finest Blended Scotch Whiskies and sells more than 6 million cases per year, to make it number two in the world.

The Whisky Boys hope to have a wee tasting in the near future, but their tasting schedule is getting busier and busier, but we shall endeavour to get there. So many grand drams but so little time.
