Linkwood Single Malt Whisky Tasting

This is the Whisky Boys last tasting of 2010. Nicola came over to Jim’s on Tuesday 28th December and brought with her a little bottle containing an amber nectar. This little bottle was a Christmas gift to Nicola from her friend and neighbour, Lee who was also one of the Whisky Boys guest tasters.

This little bottle contained :-

Linkwood, Single Cask, Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, Distilled 1994 at 54% Alc/vol, 10cl Bottle.

Colour…Dark Honeyed Gold

Nicola’s tasting

Nose…Sherry trifle, sweet vanilla , smooth creamy raisins.
Taste…Heavy sherry, rich, rich, rich But smooth with Christmas berries, underlying wood tones.
Finish…Long and very smooth.

Score…3.5 corks

Jim’s tasting

Nose…Just full of Christmas cake, downed with a lovely sherry.
Taste…Vanilla and spicey fruit cake, mouth watering wee dram, is there a wee touch of peat in here?
Finish…Quite long and ultra clean and smooth with a little oak coming in.

Overall Score…3.5 corks

Well we both realy enjoyed this wee dram, could have sipped this one all night. You could just sit back in front of an open fire with a slice of fruit cake and a couple of pieces of shortcake, what a grand image.
